SWEEP Net

During its starting phase, the SWEEP-Net Secretariat has been established and designed as a slim structure. The secretariat’s duty is to provide services for its network members as well as to facilitate mutual exchange and cooperation.

The administrative and management tasks are performed under the direction of the Secretary General. The Secretary General serves as the chief executive officer of SWEEP-Net. The management function of the General Secretary in principal includes the representation, planning, implementation and coordination as well as monitoring of all SWEEP-Net activities.

The SWEEP-Net Secretariat is divided into three main service sections and each section is managed by a coordinator as follows:

• Administration and liaison section
• Communication and networking section
• Knowledge Management section

For its starting phase the SWEEP-Net Secretariat is technically supported by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH (German Technical Cooperation). The German technical assistance is represented by a GIZ Team leader as permanent advisor to the secretariat.
