Regional Working Group : Public-Private Cooperation for SWM
Introduction
Some member countries have involved the private sector, to varying degrees, in the waste management sector. While some countries limited the role of the private sector to the collection of waste and transporting it outside cities, other countries assisted the private sector in the operations of sorting, recycling, and turning waste into biologic fertilizers.
Member countries look forward to benefiting from successful experiences in this field, as well as discussing all the contractual and economic issues related to these operations, which gives more importance to the discussion of the role of the private sector within a regional working group.
