Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) Generation: 1,964,284 tons (2009) 
Per Capita MSW Generation: 0.95 kg/day (urban areas)

MSW Generation Growth: 3.3 %
Medical waste generation: 3,285 tons/year
Industrial hazardous waste: 15,000 tons /year
Agricultural waste: 1.56 million tons/ye

Policy and Planning Environment

  • Type of contracts:  Management for municipal solid waste and BOOT for medical and industrial wastes

Options for Improvement

  • Technical support for:  policy and planning, institutional building, cost recovery, management and monitoring of contracts
  • Training on proposal and contract preparation, technology assessment, creation of certified landfills operators courses
