The Regional Solid Waste Exchange of Information and Expertise Network (SWEEP-Net) is a regional network which works on institutionally anchoring the principles of a sustainable and integrated solid waste management in Mashreq and Maghreb countries and in all the network’s member countries. Its objective is to set-up a common regional platform for technical assistance, capacity building and exchange of best practices, expertise and experiences in the field of Solid Waste Management.
Ten countries from the Mashreq and Maghreb region have already joined the network and officially designated national coordinators (Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Mauritania, Morocco, Palestinian Territories, Syria, Tunisia and Yemen). Experts, consulting firms, private operators, cities, NGOs, research institutes, donors, ministries, public institutions and other networks are welcomed to join the network.
The network secretariat is located in Tunisia and actually supported by the GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH) and the Tunisian Government through the National Waste Management Agency “ANGed”.
